Submit

Feel free to submit any active website that falls into the categories on 404PageFound. This is not the Wayback Machine, so please do not submit any links to outdated versions of webpages. Sites can be either self-hosted or a subpage of a larger domain (such as .edu). In general, we love:

  1. A site created and last modified before the year 2000
  2. A site that still maintains an original Web 1.0 look although it may be recently updated
  3. Graphical sites only – no strictly text sites, Usenet summaries, individual text articles, etc.
  4. Free hosted sites such as GeoCities are not preferred, but do have their place

We will briefly review the site, and if it matches most of our criteria we will post it in the gallery as soon as possible. The Criteria page lists all site features that 404PageFound admires.

  1. My web site – Moose’s Software Valley – has been on-line since 28-Jul-1996.
It contains 100+ free, original software titles that I created plus 1 shareware / trialware title that I sell.
It’s a labor of love. I do it because I love developing software.
No ads, no tracking, etc, and all of my software is checked against 50+ virus and malware checkers on VirusTotal.com before release.
Anyway, I’m just about to “celebrate” my website’s 23rd anniversary ….
Please add me to your list / database.

  2. Готов переделать ваш сайт и сделать его современее стоимость работы 2000р.

  3. This website was abandoned since 2003-2004 0, it was for a short lived cartoon called “BraceFace” but the shows website was put down by nelvana but 4 other resources

  4. I found the site i once posted here again, its old… 1993 old. I know it hasn’t been updated because they have an HTML reference for HTML 1. 1993, release of HTML 1. Now we have html 5, But here’s the link, all you need to do is go to transaction.net. Enjoy!

  5. http://velvetdragon.com/cyberslugs/

Here you can adopt Cyberslugs (and what they call ‘shrooms??) and decorate their ‘homes’ through mysterious means. They have some fantastic slug options. It was last updated in 2006, though made in ’97. I know that falls outside of your criteria by a margin, but I don’t think the world is complete without knowledge of these fantastic slugs.

If only the option to look at the communities slugs were not defunct.

  6. http://devilbunnies.org/ is the archive site for the alt.devilbunnies Usenet group. While I overlaid CSS stylesheets on the site around 1997 and last updated the CSS stylesheet for the CGI archive pages around 2007 (without HTML changes except to include the stylesheets) it is essentially as it went live in July 1995 except for that.

The site actually predates the domain. It began as an HTML enabled FTP site (See https://groups.google.com/g/alt.devilbunnies/c/25NmCoMtyD4/m/VeJYnTqFLxMJ for documentation) before migrating to a personal WWW directory on xmission.com circa 1994 and then to its own domain in July 1995. It is one of the very oldest largely unchanged live websites on the internet. For that matter, it is one of the oldest website domains period.

You can confirm the main stylesheet dates back to at least 1998 (it is in fact one of the earliest websites to use CSS as I was a member of the stylesheets working group email list at the time) and has not been changed since then by checking archive.org: https://web.archive.org/web/19980131171200/https://devilbunnies.org/

As you can see, the changes to the site since then are insignificant. Although that may change sometime in the next few years if I find the time to rewrite the archive CGI script (which itself has not been changed since 1999) and upgrade it to use https – “That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die.”
