Piero Scaruffi’s Web Site

A legendary site where content (heavily music reviews) trumps design. According to the about page, Scaruffi “became one of the very first websites, and possibly the first website ever to carry the name of its owner (for lack of imagination). So www.scaruffi.com has existed in one form or another since the 1980s.” The domain itself has been registered since 1998. In 2006, The New York Times described the site as “colorful but stark, consisting mainly of simple text with basic color backdrops, with limited advertising.”
